James Cameron’s Avatar is back in Philippine cinemas for a limited run

Ahead of the sequel’s release later this year, 20th Century Studios brings back Avatar to cinemas in the Philippines for a limited run.

James Cameron’s Avatar was originally released in cinemas back in 2009, and it was critically acclaimed for its impressive visual effects and 3D implementation. To call the film a box office hit is a massive understatement as Avatar is still the highest-grossing film of all time worldwide.

In case you missed its original release and have yet to see it in home video, the film is described as:

“Avatar” tells the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet called ‘Pandora’ filled with exotic life forms in the year 2154. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the Na’vi. He meets and falls in love with the Na’vi Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and opens his eyes to the destruction the humans are wreaking on Pandora, and sides with the Na’vi to protect their world from human hands.

This Avatar re-releases in the Philippines comes in a remastered version in 2D and 3D formats. Following this limited run, Avatar: The Way of Water will release in Philippine cinemas this December.
