With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom last Friday, McDonald’s released a new image that may hint at a collab.

Specifically, the official McDonald’s Mexico Facebook page shared an interesting image last May 12 which was the release date of the latest Zelda game. The image presents a shield that looks a lot like Link’s signature Hylian Shield.

Instead of the standard color scheme though, this shield features a red and yellow color, and it features the golden arches logo as well as an image of McDonald’s fries. The post’s caption also reads “They are the perfect LINK for a game night” (via Google Translate).

After it was shared, the post got a lot of attention from Zelda fans, with many hoping that this would mean a collaboration is on the way. Though McDonald’s Mexico did not specifically name-drop Zelda, nor did they confirm anything about a potential collab. Interestingly, the page did have some curious responses to the comments, so a McDonald’s crossover might just be in the works.

Even if this collab gets confirmed won’t be the first time that McDonald’s will team up with a popular game. For instance, the fast food giant collaborated with Overwatch 2 back in late 2020. Then there’s the official tweet from McDonald’s about FF7’s 25th anniversary back in September.

Of course, a Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and McDonald’s collab isn’t exactly confirmed as this might just be the fast food giant getting in on the hype as Zelda wasn’t mentioned by name at all in the comments.

If this turns out to be just one post though, Zelda fans won’t be getting a Link happy meal anytime soon. But it’s not like the new Zelda game needs any more promotion as the game has received rave reviews and is already one of the Switch’s most well-received titles.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is out now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
