Riot Games Soul Fighter Event | Everything you need to know

Riot Games Soul Fighter is a six-week event that takes place in the world of Runeterra. This will bring thrilling in-game content to not just League of Legends, but also Teamfight Tactics, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra.

Soul Fighter takes place in an alternate universe where competitors will attempt to prove themselves in the “Tournament of Souls.” This stands as Riot Games’ homage to the fighting game genre, drawing inspiration from the profound emotional impact and distinctive character moments found in both fighting games and anime tournament arcs. Across all four Runeterra titles, players can expect a host of exciting additions such as brand-new game modes, unique skins, gameplay features, and much more.

“We’re really excited for the range of different experiences across the League of Legends ecosystem that make up the Soul Fighter event,” said Andrei van Roon, Head of League Studio. “Arena, Soul Brawl, and Tag Duel will let players experience League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift, respectively, in new ways that we think bring something really fresh to the table. We can’t wait to see what players think once they get their hands on them.”

The event is set to kick off globally on Thursday, July 20, and will run until Monday, August 28. Brace yourselves as Soul Fighter immerses you in a world where action and intensity know no bounds.

The Soul Fighter event will provide different experiences depending on the game you log into. Here’s what you can expect:

Soul Fighter in League of Legends

New Game Mode: Arena

Four teams of two players each will fight one another in rotating combat rounds. After each round, they will power up with unique Augments until only one team is left standing. Combat takes place on four different battlefields which vary in size, terrain density, and theme. Champions from the Soul Fighter universe will make occasional Cameo appearances in matches to either players’ benefit or detriment.

Tournament of Souls (League of Legends in-game exclusive metagame experience)

Tournament of Souls is a style-rating-focused combo-battler that takes place in League of Legends. Players will take on the role of Samira and gain Reputation by playing games of League. You’ll be able to face new opponents and unlock new abilities for Samira to progress further in the tournament. The objective is to defeat all ten opponent champions and become its new champion. Players can claim rewards after each victory and can unlock the Story and Expert difficulty levels, each with differing levels of challenge for players of all levels of skill and time commitment.

Soul Fighter in Teamfight Tactics

New Game Mode: Soul Brawl

This game mode takes place across two stages; the Training phase, where players compete for Soul Power that will strengthen their Soul Crown and provide additional loot options, and the Tournament phase, where players will be eliminated in a best-of-three bracket tournament.

Teamfight Tactics exclusive in-game narrative experience

In The Choncc Dome, Champions and Tacticians team up to prepare for the Tournament of Souls. The Choncc Dome marks the first time a TFT in-client experience has been brought to mobile platforms, and the first time an Event has had an exclusive Pass+! .

Soul Fighter in League of Legends: Wild Rift

New Game Mode: Tag Duel
Players will go against each other in one-on-one combat. Each player will select three champions before entering combat, which can be seamlessly swapped between when off cooldown, leading to all sorts of combos previously only possible with teammates. The first player to reach four kills wins.

Wild Rift exclusive In-game Narrative Experience

The story is told through the perspectives of Draven and Yasuo as they engage in the Tournament of Souls and explore the Lands Beyond. Players will dive into a visual novel, where they’ll uncover secrets and make impactful choices. This will include a combat minigame that puts your speed and accuracy to the test. As you progress through the event, you’ll earn valuable tokens that can be exchanged for a variety of items in the event shop. Additionally, Arcade Mode will let you play your favorite Soul Fighter champions for exclusive rewards, including a special emote, and more to discover for yourself.

During the period of July 20 to August 28, Riot Games has committed to donating 20% of the proceeds generated from various Soul Fighter offerings in League of Legends. These contributions will include sales from Soul Fighter Samira, the Soul Fighter Event Pass, as well as any related bundle sales. The recipient of these donations is the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, which operates as a donor advised fund account sponsored by ImpactAssets. As part of the Soul Fighter event, Riot Games is also hosting Soul Fighter: Fight Night. This epic broadcast experience will showcase 16 talented content creators as they go head-to-head, both in-game and in real life, for the coveted title of Fight Night Champion. The event will take place in Los Angeles, California, and will be streamed on Twitch for all to enjoy.
