Official Armored Core VI strategy guide to be released

A lot of first impressions and trailers have come out as Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be releasing in less than a month’s time. As you may have already found out, Armored Core VI is a game with a bit of a steep learning curve. To address this, FromSoftware has revealed to us in an interview that they will be releasing Official Armored Core VI strategy guide.

The Armored Core franchise does have a solid fanbase but it is also a fact that the last mainline entry of AC was released over a decade ago. While these long-time fans may have some familiarity with the game’s systems, it is also expected that AC6 will be drawing in a lot of AC newcomers as FromSoftware has developed quite a following in the gaming scene as they have become known for their Soulsborne titles like Dark Souls, Sekiro, and (most famously) Elden Ring. This means that there could be a lot of people who will be going into AC6 blind and may struggle with the game’s complex systems. To address this, FromSoftware has told us that they have they have placed great care into making helpful tutorials.

“Armored Core has always been quite a complex game, and particularly the assembly aspect can be quite overwhelming and challenging to get to grips with, at first.“, says Armored Core VI Director Masaru Yamamura. “So we wanted to pay special attention to how we approach [player] onboarding to the game mechanics and especially assembly in the early game. We have not only training and simulator modes that introduce different types of mech and different archetypes and different movement styles, different options for the player to experiment with. But we also have a relatively small lineup of parts and weapons early on, so that the player doesn’t feel too overwhelmed and they can get introduced to this process quite simply and smoothly. So we’ve tried to prepare a number of ways to gradually ease the player into that process, especially in the early game.”

While this does help, this, of course, is limited to within the game. To take it a step further, FromSoftware revealed to us that they will be having efforts OUTSIDE the game to provide even more means to make the learning curve less daunting.

Armored Core VI Producer Yasunori Ogura adds “Yes, we are coordinating with Bandai Namco to prepare a guide book for the game – a strategy guide. And there will be online web guides and web resources as well in order to introduce players to this new Armored Core.”

With both in-game and out-of-game materials being made to help ease players in, we’re hoping that this makes it so that more people are able to enjoy Armored Core VI more upon launch. We’ll be waiting for more details from them on when and where this official Armored Core VI strategy guide will be available.

Armored Core releases on August 25, 2023 for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
