Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree story trailer reveals new info, but it’s still vague as ever

The new trailer gives a peek at what to expect in the long-awaited Elden Ring DLC.

With the release just a month away, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware released a new story trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Much like the story trailer for the base game released a few years ago, this new trailer shows off lots of eye-popping cinematics, all while giving us more story details. As always though, the trailer is still vague when it comes to exactly what’s going on.

Still, this is a must-watch for any and every fan. Given how it’s quite vague still, there’s no need to worry about spoilers.

You can check out the Shadow of the Erdtree story trailer here:

The trailer begins with what seems to be Queen Marika before the Age of the Erdtree, with the narration implying that origin of the Golden Order may be explore. What follows is a wake of destruction by Messmer, one of Marika’s children.

Halfway through, the trailer shows Miquella who is said to have cast his body and fate aside to journey to the Land of Shadow. Soon, other Tarnished are shown, along with signs that look like Miquella’s Great Rune.

Even though the trailer doesn’t go into specific detail, there’s a lot to be gleaned from the footage and narration, enough that we’ll likely see lots of trailer lore breakdowns in the coming days.

From the looks of it, Messmer is being set up as one of the main antagonists of the DLC. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see what his relationship is with Marika along with the other demigod children. What’s more, Miquella’s goals and story is also one of the most intriguing aspects of the expansion, especially given how important of a character he is in the base game despite not making a proper appearance.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on June 21, 2024.

While this DLC promises to be big, it is confirmed to be the only DLC for the game.
