Ubisoft shows off Assassin’s Creed Shadows gameplay at Forward livestream

Naoe and Yasuke give the game two different playstyles.

After its reveal nearly a month ago, Ubisoft finally gave fans their first look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows gameplay at the recent Ubisoft Forward livestream.

The game’s initial trailer only features cinematics, so the gameplay showcase is one that many fans were anticipating. After all, fans have been clamoring for a Japanese Assassin’s Creed game for years now.

From the looks of it, this game will promise to delight fans with its two gameplay styles. You can watch the Assassin’s Creed Shadows gameplay showcase with developer commentary here:

This gameplay showcase is set in the the castle town of Fukuchiyama, and there, the playable characters Naoe and Yasuke are hunting a certain daimyo. To start, the gameplay shows off Yasuke whose playstyle is more a straight-up fighter. He wields three weapons, the first being the Katana, a samurai signature which is useful for precision strikes. Yasuke also has the Kanbo which is basically a big hammer/mace that can destroy armor. Plus, he has the flint rifle called a Tenpo to take on multiple enemies.

Meanwhile, Naoe’s shinobi playstyle is classic Assassin’s Creed as she is able to stealthily take down foes. She also has a grappling hook that is useful for in-air assassinations, not to mention that she can also deflect and dodge enemy strikes when in close combat.

Players will also be free to play as either of the two characters for most of the game. Thanks to this, players can switch up their playstyle between fights or stick to the one they prefer.

Meanwhile, if you want an extended and (mostly) uncut look at gameplay, check out the extended walkthrough here:
