With the game’s release just weeks away, Bethesda and id Software released a new trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages at WrestleMania 41 during the weekend.
This new trailer is over two minutes long, and it features plenty of brutal action, though it’s fair to say that the story takes center stage here. After all, the trailer features various cutscene snippets that give players a taste of the DOOM Slayer’s new cinematic story.

In case you missed its reveal (and subsequent showcases), The Dark Ages is the latest entry in the iconic DOOM franchise. This is the third game in id Software’s modern DOOM series which began with the 2016 game. While it’s the third entry in the modern series, The Dark Ages is technically a prequel to DOOM 2016.
Aside from its story, what’s exciting about The Dark Ages is the fact that it will have a different gameplay style compared to DOOM: Eternal. Unlike Eternal which featured a fast-paced combat system with a focus on movement, this new game has a more grounded and heavier style. The developers liken the Doom Slayer in this game as an “iron tank,” meaning the combat will be all about standing your ground and mowing down waves of demons.
DOOM: The Dark Ages will be released on Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on May 15, 2025.
