Bandai Namco Entertainment recently unveiled RG Project, which includes the previously revealed Gundam Rogue Orbit along with the new anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO.
Details were shared at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. To start, RG Project is a new shared world that connects the upcoming anime RG XARX-ZERO and the game Rogue Orbit. Essentially, the RG Project is a new Gundam timeline called the “After Apocalypse,” and its concept is led by director Kenji Kamiyama and writer Toh Enjoe.
As for the new anime, RG XARX-ZERO will be set nearly 100 years before the events of Rogue Orbit. The anime’s announcement also came with a new trailer, which you can watch here:
While there’s not a lot of info yet about the anime, Bandai Namco did share the official synopsis for the RG Project. It reads:
The three revelations delivered by the Autonomous Interstellar Object from another galaxy ushered in an age of unprecedented prosperity, allowing humanity to expand across the entire solar system.
Gravity Control. FTL Communication. Cognitive Materialisation. Yet less than ten years after its discovery, the Object that had delivered these three revelations suddenly ran rampant, spawning an aggressive, self-proliferating ecosystem.
Humanity came to see this unknown ecosystem as the Apocalypse.
For three months, humanity fought the Apocalypse to a standstill in orbit above Earth. Forced to abandon the planet, humanity marked that year as A.A. 1 — the first year After Apocalypse.
By A.A. 45, children born on the Moon and in space colonies have never known life without the Apocalypse.
And on the lunar surface, a boy named Ray Azumi awakens —
Finally, Bandai Namco revealed the Gundam Helix HG 1/444 Gunpla model kit and confirmed that Rogue Orbit will join the Gundam Card Game soon.
Gundam RG XARX-ZERO and Gundam Rogue Orbit will be released in 2027.
