Following its reveal last month, SEGA and RGG Studio shared new gameplay trailers for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, featuring a closer look at Kiryu and Mine’s combat styles.
In case you missed its reveal, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is the next upcoming release from RGG Studio, and as its name implies, it’s essentially a package of two games. First is Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3, using the Dragon Engine (in the vein of Yakuza Kiwami 2). Players who purchase the game will also get Dark Ties, the new “Gaiden” game — the third after The Man Who Erased His Name and Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Instead of playing a previous protagonist like Kiryu and Majima, Dark Ties lets players take on the role of Yakuza 3 antagonist, Yoshitaka Mine.
While the game’s reveal trailer did show off plenty of footage, the new gameplay trailers give us a better look at what to expect. To start, we have the Kiwami 3 battle trailer, showcasing Kiryu’s familiar Dragon of Dojima style, and his new, Okinawa-inspired Ryukyu style.

It’s fair to say that Yakuza 3’s gameplay hasn’t particularly aged well, with many enemy encounters being quite annoying due to how much foes love to keep their guard up. With this Dragon Engine remake though, Yakuza 3 is finally getting the big improvements that it deserves. After all, this game is a major turn in Kiryu’s story.
Next up, we have the Dark Ties battle trailer. In this video, we see Mine’s fighting style that makes heavy use of boxing techniques. Plus, it shows Mine activating Dark Awakening to deal heavy damage.

Mine starring in the next Gaiden game was a surprise, especially given that most fans expected either Akiyama or Saejima to become the next Gaiden protagonist. Based on his gameplay though, we are definitely excited to experience Dark Ties. Plus, we like that this opens the door for more unexpected characters to get a Gaiden title.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on February 12, 2026.
