2026 marks the 35th anniversary of id Software, and to celebrate, the studio held a special livestream, followed by a sale on DOOM, Quake, and more.
It’s fair to say that id Software is one of the most popular and among the longest-running video game studios in the world. The studio has also been hugely influential in the FPS space, as it pretty much invented the genre with Wolfenstein and DOOM.
The recent anniversary livestream happened on February 4, and it took fans on a trip down memory lane to celebrate the iconic studio’s legacy. Featuring Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin, the stream also shared the first details on this year’s QuakeCon, which itself is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Along with the livestream, id Software is also celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special sale on Steam and PlayStation starting today. The sale includes up to 66.6% off DOOM: The Dark Ages. Plus, games in the studio’s biggest franchises, such as Wolfenstein, DOOM, Quake, and RAGE, are still available on Xbox Game Pass. Plus, Evercade teased that it will release a collection of classic DOOM products soon.
That’s not all there is to the anniversary, as the studio confirmed that more announcements will be shared later this year. Given that 2026 also marks the Quake series’ 30th anniversary and the 2016 DOOM game’s 10th anniversary, we expect to see DOOM and Quake-related reveals as the year progresses.
