It has been a year since the first season, and now, Daredevil: Born Again is back for Season 2, this time with Wilson Fisk squarely aiming his sights on Daredevil. While the second season has only begun today, we got to watch all eight episodes, so we can give you our full thoughts on the continuation.
[NOTE: There are spoilers for Season 1, but this review only features minor spoilers, with most details discussed having already been shown in the trailers]

Before getting into our thoughts on Season 2, we do want to point out that there’s only a one-year gap between the first and second seasons. Given that many big-budget live-action shows have longer gaps between seasons, the fact that we got Season 2 in just a year is great news. What’s more, the new season, while shorter by one episode compared with the first, is still quite a meaty one. Each episode is around 40+ minutes, so you definitely get a lot of story and action.
Speaking of action, one of the things we loved about the previous season was the impressive action scenes. In Season 1, you can truly see the brutal combat style of Daredevil, and we’re happy to report that this follow-up does not disappoint in that regard. We found that the fight scenes here are just as good, if not even better than the first.
Thanks to the action, coupled with how gripping the story is, especially in the initial episodes, we also found Born Again Season 2 to be incredibly easy to binge-watch. Of course, the show still works as something you can watch weekly (as the show will have a weekly release schedule. For this review though, we got to watch all eight. Even though we intended to space them out, we simply couldn’t help but watch all the episodes in one go. This is because of how well-made they are and how nicely they flowed together.

Another thing we liked about the new season is Daredevil’s portrayal. Most of the show featured Matt Murdock in his vigilante side, as all he had essentially was his Daredevil side.
We also liked how the show delves into Daredevil’s concept of morality. Even though he fights with brutality, his refusal to kill has led to innocent deaths. In a way, this reminded us of the Batman argument, and it’s great to see the show delve into this, especially as this becomes a point of friction between characters.
While a lot of the focus in this series is on Daredevil (it’s his show after all), Season 2 also puts the spotlight on the villains at many points. In fact, if you ask us, these characters – including the likes of Fisk, Buck, and Vanessa – stole the show given how interesting their development was.
On the flip side, because of this, the heroes’ side felt a bit lacking aside from our titular hero. The new season also features some familiar faces, which should delight long-time Marvel series fans. But if you ask us, there were some missed opportunities with these characters. While we won’t go as far as to say they feel tacked on, their roles in the story didn’t feel as impactful, especially when you compared them to the villains.

We loved this new season for the most part. The thing that prevents us from fully embracing the show is the ending, or at least, how it came to be. Without getting into spoiler territory, the ending is quite interesting in that it builds up a tense and intriguing storyline for Season 3. It’s just that, for us, the execution felt a bit lacking or a bit too convenient.
Plot hole is too strong a description, but you kind of have to suspend your disbelief for the ending to work. It’s not a horrible ending, mind you. It just could’ve been written or executed better. This might be a consequence of the fast turnaround time between seasons, though it’s not a season-ruiner by any means.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 – Final Verdict

If you liked Season 1, then you’ll definitely enjoy Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Thanks to its gripping story, compelling villains, and great action scenes, this follow-up delivers plenty of entertainment that’s sure to delight Marvel fans.
While the ending and the inclusion of familiar faces in the story could’ve been executed better, Season 2 is still overall a thrilling watch.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres today on Disney+, with new episodes being released every week.
