Bethesda recently announced that Starfield is coming to PS5, and it will launch this April alongside the newly-revealed Free Lanes update.
Starfield was originally released back in 2023 only for Xbox and PC. Since then, Xbox has pivoted its strategy to launching its games (along with Bethesda’s titles) on PS5. As such, it’s no surprise that Starfield is finally coming to PlayStation’s current-gen console.
In this version of the game, players will be able to enjoy all the previous updates that have been released for the Xbox and PC versions. These include an array of quality-of-life enhancements, along with the big free updates like Creations.
What’s more, the PS5 version will take advantage of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers for weapons, as well as the light bar to indicate health and the touchpad for switching POVs and other shortcuts.
Finally, Bethesda confirmed that the PS5 version will launch with the Free Lanes update, as that will be launched on the same day.

Given that Starfield is coming to PlayStation, every major Bethesda release since the Xbox acquisition in 2021 will now be available on Sony’s platform. As such, we’ll probably see Bethesda’s future games, such as The Elder Scrolls VI and Blade, get released on PS5 at some point. That is, unless Xbox switches up its strategy in the wake of the major leadership shakeup.
