Kagurabachi is officially getting an anime adaptation, coming in April 2027

The Kagurabachi anime teaser looks quite promising!

After plenty of rumors over the past year, the Kagurabachi anime was finally announced via a stylish new teaser. This new teaser was uploaded on the Shochiku anime YouTube Channel, and while it’s fairly short, it gives us a nice taste of what to expect.

Aside from showing off action-packed clips, the teaser also revealed that the anime is being produced by Cypic (aka Cygames Pictures). The studio is best known for animating the Umamusume anime movies and shows, as well as The Summer Hikaru Died. This studio also worked on the Blade Runner Black Out 2022 anime short directed by Cowboy Bebop creator Shinichiro Watanabe. While CyPic is a fairly young studio, given its track record, this Kagurabachi adaptation should be in good hands.

Meanwhile, the anime is directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi, an animator who has worked on shows like Naruto, Bleach, and Jujutsu Kaisen. It also stars Taihi Kimura as the voice of protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira.

It’s fair to say that, out of all the ongoing manga on Shonen Jump that haven’t been adapted into an anime yet, Kagurabachi has the biggest hype. Funnily, the excitement around Kagurabachi started as a meme, with anime/manga fans jokingly calling it the next big Shonen Jump hit. Even though a lot of the hype started as a joke at first, the Kagurabachi manga proved to be an exciting shonen series, enough that the excitement for this adaptation isn’t just for the memes.

Sadly for fans, we’ll have to wait quite a while for this show, as the Kagurabachi anime will premiere in April 2027. For now, there’s no word yet on a more specific release date.
