Gundam fans are in for a treat later this month as a Gundam Base Pop-up is opening in Manila at Shangri-La Plaza – the first of its kind in the Philippines.
This upcoming pop-up was teased earlier this week via the official Gundam Philippines Facebook page. Now, the pop-up finally got an official announcement, along with confirmation of its June 30 opening at Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila.
At the pop-up, Gundam fans will be able to purchase Gundam Base limited edition and event limited edition model kits, along with a bunch of new releases. Even though the complete lineup hasn’t been revealed yet, fans and collectors should already mark their calendars.

As most fans should know, Gundam Base is the flagship retail store for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Aside from carrying a wide array of Gunpla model kits, Gundam Base stores also typically have various displays and exhibitions, making them a must-visit for fans of the franchise.
While most of the Gundam Base stores in the world are located in Japan, Bandai has opened stores in other countries, including South Korea, Singapore, the US, and more.
Given how popular these stores are, this pop-up is no doubt exciting news for Gundam fans in the Philippines. Hopefully, the pop-up will also feature displays and photo spots. More importantly, we also hope that this is a sign that a Gundam Base store will open in the PH soon. After all, a Nintendo Authorized Store just opened recently, with Animate also confirmed to open its first retail outlet in the Philippines.
For now, there’s no word on how long the Gundam Base Pop-up in Manila will be open. Hopefully, it will be there at Shangri-La for at least a couple of weeks.
