Crazy Taxi: World Tour sees the iconic series return, and it will launch in 2027

This was a pleasant surprise during the XBOX Games Showcase.

At the recent XBOX Games Showcase 2026, SEGA announced Crazy Taxi: World Tour, the return of the beloved arcade racing series.

While Crazy Taxi is an icon of the late 90s and early 2000s, the series has long been on life support. After all, the last mainline series entry was Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller, which was released for the Xbox way back in 2002. Meanwhile, the last non-mobile game in the series is Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, released in 2007 for the PSP.

Finally, SEGA is returning to this classic franchise, and instead of just going for a remaster or remake of the original, we’re getting a proper new installment. This new game is titled Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and it was revealed with a trailer that showcased actual gameplay footage, giving fans a nice taste of what to expect.

You can check out the trailer here:

Based on the trailer, World Tour looks very much like the original in terms of gameplay, though it promises to introduce new gameplay elements that should make the game feel fresh even after multiple runs.

What is new is that the game will feature the first-ever online multiplayer mode for the series. Not a lot of details have been shared about this multiplayer mode, though we expect to get more info later this year.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour will be released on PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC sometime in 2027. For now, there’s no word on a specific release date.
