Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 launches on Switch 2 this October

An Upgrade Pack will also be available for owners of the Switch version.

SEGA recently announced that it will release the Switch 2 version of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 on October 29.

While you can play the Switch version on Switch 2 via backwards compatibility, this dedicated Switch 2 edition of The Hinokami Chronicles 2 features smoother gameplay with better graphics. To be exact, the Switch 2 version will run at 60 FPS and have a higher resolution than the Switch version.

Because of these enhancements, Switch version owners won’t get a free upgrade to the newer edition. Players won’t have to buy the full game again, though, as SEGA will release a Switch 2 upgrade pack, which will be released on the same day as the Switch 2 edition’s release.

Note that the Switch 2 version of the game will not be a “Greatest Hits” collection, meaning it won’t feature all the DLC. To make it easy for fans, SEGA will release the “Infinity Castle” Character Pass for Switch 2 on the version’s launch day. As its name implies, this pass will add all the new Infinity Castle characters (and the Infinity Castle versions of select fan-favorites).

Finally, SEGA confirmed that the Switch 2 version will support two-player local offline matches, as well as crossplay with Switch 1 players in online matches. To keep things fair, if you have a Switch and play an online match against a player on the Switch 1 version, your game will run at 30 FPS to compensate.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 will be released on Switch 2 on October 29, 2026.
