Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey sees massive spike on Google Trends in the Philippines

The Odyssey also has a fun easter egg on Google Search right now.

Following its release in cinemas, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has seen a big bump on Google Trends in the Philippines.

Any Nolan movie is a big event, though The Odyssey might just be the biggest one yet since his Dark Knight trilogy. After all, Homer’s Odyssey is a foundational work of literature, and its story not only holds up well today, but it’s also an incredible adventure.

Nolan’s version of The Odyssey has received rave reviews, as well as incredible box office results, with the film getting the biggest opening weekend worldwide for any Nolan film. Aside from getting a big box office haul, the film has also resulted in plenty of Google Searches.

According to Google Trends data, searches for “The Odyssey” jumped 450% in a week in the Philippines alone, showing that interest in the film (as well as its source material) has massively increased following its cinema release. This makes sense, especially given how incredible the film is, not to mention how stacked its cast is. Plus, there’s no doubt that many people who enjoyed the film are now looking up the best translation of Homer’s Odyssey to read.

To celebrate the film’s release, Google has a special easter egg where typing “The Odyssey” on Search will reveal an interactive Trojan Horse. By clicking on the horse, you’ll see a soldier emerge and clear out different entries on the results page. If you do this multiple times, you’ll see even more soldiers emerge.

The Odyssey is now showing in Philippine cinemas. If you haven’t watched it yet and are wondering where to see it, here’s the best cinema to watch it in Manila (in our opinion).
