Originally set to launch in late September, Capcom has just revealed that the release date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword has been moved up by nearly three weeks.
To be exact, the upcoming Onimusha title is now set to be released on September 4, 2026, on all platforms. This means players will be able to play the game earlier than expected. For many gamers, this should be great news given how stacked September 2026 is with high-profile game launches.
The new release date was announced with a new video, which you can watch here:
In case you missed it, pre-orders for the game are available now. If you need a bit more convincing, a free demo is currently available on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. With this demo, players can try out the early parts of the game. What’s more, having a demo save will grant players the exclusive Kubi Akari Charm in the full game when they purchase it on the same platform.

Most of this year’s biggest releases are packed between September and October, as pretty much every publisher is steering clear of GTA VI, which launches in November. Given that the latter half of September is particularly packed, it makes sense that Capcom moved Way of the Sword’s release to early September.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 4, 2026.
