vivo X300 Ultra | From Tamsui to Taipei 101

The vivo X300 Ultra is a bona fide core memory maker.

While in terms of tech timelines, our trip to Computex might well be an eternity ago, the vivo X300 Ultra stays brand spanking new. Figuratively, in terms of its photographic capabilities, of course. Almost a month removed from its review, we’ve been able to spend a good amount of time with this hefty, premium and professional camera setup that just so happens to possess call and text capabilities. It was a good amount of time to truly appreciate just how superb that setup is.

Just to recap, we’re talking about a triple-lens setup comprising a 200MP main shooter200MP periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide powered by ZEISS technology. Not to mention some very intuitive AI features that help streamline the process of you snapping that perfect shot. Photography kit notwithstanding.

The vivo X300 Ultra allows massive zoom capabilities alongside vivid portrait sorcery that makes it worthy of being your go-to travel partner. Just a quick morning walk around Ximen Station’s underground pop culture den becomes a recreational activity. Tinkering with focal lengths and filters was the name of the game. Making the colors pop in photos was easy enough. The phone basically does all the heavy lifting if you don’t wish to go “Pro.”

Of course, we can’t spend all day wandering around the hotel’s vicinity. A weekend day trip sounded nice in spite of the spotty weather. A trip to Tamsui was in order–a place bearing a stark difference from Taipei, with more western architecture and surprisingly, less tourists. Of course, that’s what I was told. It was my first time there, after all.

An hour-long trip would usually be quite boring, if not uneventful. But thanks to the vivo X300’s flagship-level shutter speed and AI tech, taking snaps from a fast-moving MRT was easy enough. Seeing the landscape change in real time was an absolute treat–subtle as it was. From the bustling city to the more quaint waterside expanse of land, there was definitely much to see.

Tamsui was where the magic of possibilities truly happened. Basically, free real estate to make proper use of all three shooters. From the wide breadth of the sea to the charmingly crowded streets, we were spoiled for choice. There were too many photos to post, but best believe I’ll do my best to narrow down my choices.

Luffy and the Going Merry were there, for some reason. Take a look while we grab some coffee.

Before checking out the side streets, the faraway bridge and the aura-farming fisherman were worth a peep. No issues with that level of zoom. The vivo X300 Ultra manages to capture crystal clear photos without issue. Even going beyond the preset “lossless” focal points, there wasn’t an egregious amount of AI assistance.

Of course, we had to do a bit of walking to enjoy the scenery–by that, I mean the swirl of color within the bustling streets of Tamsui. There was an abundance of shops and even more people sampling the wares.

So, how do you top such an exciting Saturday? Of course, with a rather laid-back, but equally spectacular Sunday. The aforementioned spotty weather reared its stormy head, but it wasn’t enough to dampen our spirits. Of course, I already had photos of Taipei 101 from earlier in the week–just in case misfortune would strike.

That being said, I wasn’t prepared for the panoramic outlook from the 89th floor. Yes, it was gloomy and rainy from every angle, but the vivo X300 Ultra’s cameras still presented much to marvel at. Going as far as I can with the zoom dial before snapping back to 0.6X was trippy to say the least.

And thus, the storm commenced and there was zero visibility. Quite a shame, as we were really looking forward to seeing if the telephoto could reach our hotel. Still, it was quite the week in Taiwan, and having the vivo X300 by my side for the entirety of our stay, I just found myself wanting to snap more and more photos. It didn’t matter what it was or how it came to be–it was interesting enough to become a potential core memory.

If you’re already working in the industry or simply wish to level up your mobile photography–while considering your device and investment, then you should definitely pick up the vivo X300 Ultra. Nigh unbeatable cameras aside, it’s still a high-powered device that can do just about everything you need it to. It doesn’t cut corners. Not in this price range.

If you’re interested, it’ll likely find its way back into shelves soon. It’s currently priced for Php 109,999 through vivo concept stores nationwide and online via the vivo e-storeShopee, and TikTok Shop.
