Looks like things are going to get serious for Dominic Toretto and his crew of “professional drivers”, as Universal Pictures has begun some fast-paced viral marketing to promote next year’s next big sequel in the hugely popular Fast & Furious franchise with the newly titled “Furious 7“.

Sounding a lot like the “Magnificent Seven” and the “Seven Samurai“, the title of course refers to what remains of Dom’s (Vin Diesel) crew, which include his best friend and partner Brian O’Conner (played by the late and great Paul Walker), his girlfriend Letty  Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster), Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Tej Parker (Ludacris), and former rival turned ally in FBI agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson). The team reunites to find themselves being hunted down by Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), who kills Han and is after them for the death of his younger brother Owen in the last movie. With someone hunting them down and bent to eliminate all of them once and for all, Dom and his crew must find this man and put an end to his revenge scheme once and for all.

Set for release this coming April, Furious 7 will be directed by horror film director James Wan, and will also mark the last film that Paul Walker will appear in since his tragic passing on November 2013. Walker shot most of his scenes before his death at a vehicular accident, and the character will be retired on this seventh installment of the franchise. To help fill out scenes that require Brian O’ Conner’s presence, Walker’s own brothers will help play the part in his honor.

Counting down to the first trailer’s release, the official Fast and Furious Facebook and YouTube page have released this new video, which is appropriately called “The Road to Furious 7“.

Furious 7 will be released in theaters on April 10, 2015.
