Geek out on books this 9.9 at Fully Booked’s Official Shopee Store

Cause reading is what?

ONE Store Beta Now Available

Before the advent of electronic screens, portable computers and high-powered smart devices, the only way to explore the world outside your surroundings (aside from physically traveling) was through books. Glorious tangible, physical books!

And while most of us spend our days glued to screens, it’s sometimes a great idea to unplug, put your feet up and get lost in a good book — like the old days (circa 1997).

Whether you’re a curious cat, a certified bookworm, or a geeky collector wanting to amass physical coffee-table book accompaniments of your favorite movie or video game IP, Fully Booked has something in store for you this coming September 9, 2021.

Joining Shopee’s 9.9 Super Shopping Day Sale, Fully Booked’s official Shopee Store is celebrating with up to 50% off on various titles and Free Delivery Gift Vouchers.

We scoured their numerous collection and have a couple of fun recommendations for you geeky guys and gals.

  1. My Hero Academia, Vol. 24 (Paperback) by Kohei Horikoshi

If you want to stay up-to-date with the anime, there are various volumes of My Hero Academia Manga on Fully Booked right now. Vol 24 is pretty much where the anime is currently with the start of the My Villain Academia arc where the League of Villains are pitted against the Meta Liberation Army. It’s a great way to check the Manga as source reference for stuff that the anime may or may not have changed and a great supplementary to the continuing saga of Deku (Midoriya) in his quest to be the #1 Hero of the series. If you want to know beyond what the anime has shown, Fully Booked has the succeeding volumes up to Vol. 28. PLUS ULTRA!

2. Trese, Vol. 2: Unreported Murders (Paperback) by Budjette Tan

If you want to go the local route and have yet to get into the geekdom of Budjette Tan’s Trese, now might be a good time to do so. It did have massive promotion when the Netflix Animation adaptation launched last June and also got a host of rave reviews as well as topping Netflix’s charts during that month…so, yes, it’s quite popular. If you seriously have not heard of Trese yet, then we highly suggest picking up any of the three volumes from the series. Although if you want to just jumpstart and get to know the stories the animation was based on, Trese Vol 2 is the book for you. Prepare to be enthralled by Philippine folklore like you’ve never done before.

3. The Art of Ghost of Tsushima

For the true completist and hard-core collector of the visually mesmerizing masterpiece from Sucker Punch game of 2020, Ghost of Tsushima, this hardcover Art Book is a must-have. Sprawling fauna, ethereal sunsets and a host of ornate design language are spread out on this 208-page companion-piece. Relive the adventures and sacrifices of Jin, one of the last Samurai’s laying down his life or honor to save Tsushima during the Mongol Invasion of 1274. Learn about the history the game was based on, early sketches, various fighting styles, enemy design and various tidbits that made this game win Best Art Direction in the Game Awards of 2020.

4. Studio Ghibli: Kiki’s Delivery Service Sticky Notes

We were quite surprised to find out that Fully Booked’s official Shopee Page offered more than just Books and Magazines. They also have a couple of cute collectibles and stationaries if you’re looking for a quirky memorable gift. As such, we couldn’t resist checking out a slew of Studio Ghibli official merch like this Kiki’s Delivery Service Sticky Notes with a whole lot of Gigi in it. If you have not checked this animated masterpiece from the master storyteller Hayao Miyazaki, you really should. It’s a coming-of-age story of a witch in training, the joys and pains of adolescence and a heartfelt story of finding one’s identity. It’s currently on Netflix as well and I would personally recommend to watch it in English dub (n-n-nani?!) as the late (great) Phil Hartman gives Gigi the cat some of the best lines of the film.
