Little Nightmares 3 has finally been revealed during Gamescom 2023 with everyone getting a first look at what the third mainline installment of the game has to offer. As part of a media panel interview, we were able to have a chat with Coralie Feniello, the producer from Bandai Namco, who revealed to us some additional details about the game including how a Little Nightmares 3 Friend’s Pass will be available for online play and more. Here’s their trailer!
Little Nightmares 3 will be a unique entry into the series given that this is the first time that there will be two main protagonists – Low and Alone – who will be sharing most of the spotlight for the game. With that, Little Nightmares is now going to be playable in two ways – Single Player where you have an AI companion or Multiplayer via Online Play. The good news here is that, if you are going for online play, Little Nightmares 3 will feature a Friend’s Pass which means that you and your friend can play using only one copy of the game which will definitely make it easier for players to drag people into Spiral with them.
Multiplayer is definitely the biggest unique selling point of the game which will really allow Supermassive Games to make their mark with the franchise. Low and Alone both have their own unique functions in the game with each having a signature weapon / tool to them that will really highlight the need for cooperation and coordination. We had to ask, of course, if the game was better played via single player or coop. Coralie replied “The first two games were single players games so we are making sure experiencing single payer [is as good] as multiplayer… The AI would be a bit similar to how Six was behaving in Little Nightmares 2 as an AI behavior, but we don’t want it to play for you and we don’t want it to solve the puzzles for you. So it’s really a tricky balance that we are implementing here.”
Little Nightmares 3 is slated to come out on 2024 so we’ll be finding out a lot more details about it in the months to come! We honestly can’t wait to find out more.
