SEGA and Aniplex recently revealed Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board!, the next console game based on the hit anime.

This upcoming Demon Slayer title will be released next year on the Switch in Japan, with plans for separate version releases in other parts of Asia, North America, and Europe.

As for what the game is, this upcoming Switch title is a party board game that four players can play online or offline. Essentially, you can think of it like Mario Party combined with Demon Slayer.

You can check out the game in action via the Japanese reveal trailer here:

Of course, this isn’t just a straight-up Mario Party clone though as it does feature some interesting mechanics. For instance, it has a day-night system where squares will change based on time. Daytime will play as you would expect a board game to, but at night, players must hunt down as many demons as possible.

As for playable characters, players can take the role of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the nine Hashira. Meanwhile, Nezuko is a support character as she can’t be active in daytime.

There will be various mini-games during each match, including 4-player free-for-alls to 2-on-2 team battles. At night, players can also engage in combat-based minigames against various powerful demons.

Finally, well-known locations from the Demon Slayer anime will show up in the board, including Mount Fujikasane and Asakusa.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board! will be released sometime next year on the Switch. Though for will now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
