OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro Review

OPPO is bringing us yet another addition to their cavalcade of cool devices. After the brand’s stellar first quarter of 2024, the OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro comes right out of left field and into our earholes. With a sleeker, more compact design compared to the “Enco” we know and love, it’s definitely quite the looker. But as with all earbuds, sound quality takes the front seat.

Working rather seamlessly with any ColorOS device and those of its ilk, kickstarting the OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro for a daily drive was easy enough. That being said, would it be a worthy contender for your listening pleasure? We’ve done the math, gone through one too many tracks. and binged our way into helping you make that decision. We’re all about good audio, so we understand your conundrum.

Geek-sthetic

The OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro comes in two colorways, Granite White and Graphite Black. Ours was the latter–which was a refreshing experience, given how many jet black earbuds and cans we currently have in storage. After all, we’re not looking at your usual pale, glossy finish. When we say Granite White, we mean a matte, speckled finish with grey accents. Very tasteful.

The same could be said for each bud, which ditches the lengthy stems and goes for a shorter, girthier approach. It fits rather nicely in the ear, and doesn’t get in the way of any accessories you might have pierce into your lobes. It’s also worth noting that we’re getting some nice IP55 water resistance. So, if you’re hankering for a workout, you’re good to go.

In the box, you get the buds within a nice charging case including a few extra ear tips. No cable to be seen here, so you’re literally left at the mercy of your other devices and their USB-C cables. The charging case has a decent, weighty feel to it–with a hinge that snaps firmly shut with little resistance. At 46.7 grams in total, it’s something you can basically stash away and forget.

Sound to Binge To

Now, this is where things get a bit more spicy. Don’t let the subdued, minimalist appearance of these buds fool you. There’s a surprise party hiding right behind the door. The OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro has some sweet 12.4mm Extra Large Drivers within each bud. This means deeper, punchier bass that hits just right. On the software side, we get a Dirac Audio Tuner and Dolby Atmos support. This means a more immersive soundstage to complement that bass.

For the non-bassheads, you can always tweak your preference to get the right sound. The Enco Master settings automatically kick in once you connect the buds to your phone. From there, you get three presets to choose from. We cannot stress enough just how much we like Bold.

So far, this works seamlessly with devices that don’t run on stock Android, so keep that in mind if your device operates as such. In any case, large drivers doesn’t necessarily mean bass, and only bass. It also means you get some nice clarity in your audio. Simply put, you won’t get any bland-sounding tracks.

We have absolutely no problems with the sound quality. It’s pretty good, considering the price–which we’ll divulge towards the end.

Your Sound, Your Way

That crisp audio from your favorite music definitely carries over to the shows and mobile games of your choice. This is even more prominent with the latter, as the low latency courtesy of Bluetooth 5.3 works rather well to ensure lossless gaming audio. Whether it’s loud explosions, long and drawn out emotional scenes, or high-octane action, you’ll hear everything clearly. But what about work-related matters? What about those pesky voice and video calls you get on the daily?

Remember when we discussed the earbuds’ size? Well, like in other facets of life, the size does matter–and by that, we mean it’s shorter by design. Optimized microphone placement ensures decent wind-noise control, and you can definitely hear it. While it isn’t perfect, it does its best to block out any breezes. We don’t suggest trying it against any F5, gale-force winds, though.

Speaking of those dual mics, they come packed with a decent AI call noise reduction algorithm. While you can’t manually toggle these noise-reduction features, the Dolby Atmos support provides a variety of presets that would suit your environment. It’s a nice touch, and helps quite a bit during those aforementioned calls.

As for battery life, you’ll be relieved to know that it will likely be the least of your concerns. We went an entire week without charging, and while we used it for a couple of hours at a time, that’s quite good for the 480 mAh battery within the charging case. Based on our own charging test, you’ll be up and about again in less than an hour–preferably via OPPO’s proprietary SuperVOOC charging.

Final Geek Lifestyle Verdict

Bassheads, gamers, and simple enjoyers of crystal clear audio, rejoice. The OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro delivers crystal clear audio, some punchy bass by default, and a decent overall audio experience if you’re willing to tinker with the presets. It’s a great companion on a soundtrip, and reliable little daily driver, should you decide to acquire its company. We’ve yet to find out if the Enco Master settings will work on stock Android, but once it does, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
