In 2025, what makes a flagship smartphone truly magical? Is it the build quality, the choice hardware inclusions, or do they need to come up with some wacky gimmick and visual sleight of hand to impress? That’s what we’re going to find out with the HONOR Magic7 Pro, HONOR’s latest flagship offering.
With majority of the conversation still hinges on AI, what does that entail for the brand, and does the HONOR Magic7 Pro lend its magical touch for more people to assimilate with this still controversial tech?
Geek-sthetic

Sleek & sensible, the HONOR Magic7 Pro does away with the glitz and typical fanfare seen in flagship models of old. While it does retail it’s handy candy bar shape, the paint job on the HONOR Magic7 Pro’s rear case chooses to be more subtle that I thought it would be for a flagship of this caliber. However, if quiet luxury is to your liking then the HONOR Magic7 Pro’s smooth matte-finish case is definitely for you. Even with the Lunar Shadow Grey motif like the one we got, it’s still a bit too quiet enough for my taste. But hey, as design is subjective, we can objectively say that the finishing on these devices are nothing short of marvelous.
The rounded edges gives off a bit of otherworldy design aesthetic, but the brand did admit to taking inspiration from the Cosmos of Space.
The phone also has a bit of weighing at approximately 223g (including battery), the HONOR Magic7 Pro isn’t the lightest phone in the market — but then what flagship device is?
Binge-Watching Factor

When it comes to entertainment, the HONOR Magic7 Pro has it in spades — all 6.8″ 1280×2800 FHD+ pixels of it. the LTPO OLED display produces stunning colors to watch all your favorite clips, series, and movies. With support for Dolby Vision and HDR+, the HONOR Magic7 Pro is a mini cinema in your pocket.

But to push the immersion even further, the device also has one of the best speaker setups in the market. Creating thumping auditory spectacles, the HONOR Magic7 Pro even has a 3D Surround Sound Mode that you can tick on perfect for when you tend to binge Hollywood triple-A movies. Of course, for better immersion, we highly suggest using headphones.
Gaming Prowess

As can be expected, the HONOR Magic7 Pro is a beastly gaming device with a monstrous 3nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset powering your every play. Feel free to crank everything to the max without a care in the world.
The device also benefits from 12GB of RAM and another 12GB Turbo RAM (VRAM) should you ever need it.

On Genshin Impact, arguably still one of the most demanding mobile games there is, the game automatically opens on High as a default. You can crank it up further to enjoy smooth 60fps won’t get any stutter, lags, or screen tears. Again, at this level, this is the very least you could expect from a flagship phone – but for good measure we did run the unit by some synthetic benchmarking tools. The results were pretty good.
Overall, gaming on the HONOR Magic7 Pro has been smooth sailing with temperatures being able to keep within the norms.
Geek Photoshoot Capabilities

Jumping into the highlight of the device – the cameras on the HONOR Magic7 Pro is nothing short of, well, magical. Starting with a robust 50MP f/1.4 ~ f/2.0 Super Dynamic Falcon Camera w/ OIS, this is further supported by an equally large 50MP f/2.6 ultra-wide shooter. But perhaps, what makes the phone truly remarkable is its pretty amazing optimization of their 200MP f/2.6 Telephoto camera with a large 1/1.4” sensor.
- ultra-wide
- 1x Zoom
- 2x Zoom
- 3x Zoom
- 6x Zoom
- AI SuperZoom
This triumvirate of large megapixel cameras work in tandem to capture pretty much anything you want to – regardless of how far you are from the subject as well.
Aside from the already hefty hardware, HONOR’s software and Generative AI expertise pushes the full potential of the Magic7 Pro’s camera system in ways we haven’t seen before in previous generations.
The name of the game for majority of the handset devices this 2025 will be AI (it has been for a while but it’s now more obvious and polished than two years ago). So just how good is the software and AI optimization of the HONOR Magic7 Pro? Well, you be the judge of this series of photos.

Voila! It’s…Magic!
While the phone already supports in-device AI computations, when hooked to the internet, your photos get the best clarity it could. Now, taking a photo at 100x zoom doesn’t mean your photos are going to look superbly grainy and utterly useless.

Also, these photos were taken without the use of any third-party gimbals or stands. Wild!

So what does this mean creatively? This simply means that we’re no longer bound by the limitations of what smartphone photography can do. It also allows one to be more open to creativity and to look at things from new perspectives. Having a reliable camera phone that can make your shots not just look decent but actually amazing, gives you the freedom to play and experiment with the medium more than before.
And you don’t have to be shooting at 30x 60x 100x zooms too.
Take this supposedly simply creative photo I took during our trip in Beijing.
This is a one-shot, meaning it’s not a composite photo. I simply focused the HONOR Magic7 pro at a windowpane and used the reflection to tell a visual story of sorts. It’s an interesting way of capturing a portrait shot so much so that we just had to add some choice text to create a movie poster of sorts.
I mean…it’s definitely a vibe.
And speaking of Portrait shots, I love how HONOR’s partnership with Studio Harcourt extends to their flagship line. We first saw the Studio Harcourt Portraits with the HONOR 200 last year and we absolutely fell in love with it.
For the HONOR Magic7 Pro, imagine having that gorgeous filter on an equally gorgeous camera setup. Très Bien!

- Added Traditional Chinese Text for more effect
While traditionally used for taking Portrait Photography, there is no rule for you to not use the HONOR Magic7 Pro’s Studio Harcourt filters on people. Heck, go crazy! Shoot that landscape image with a Studio Harcourt Black and White filter or a vintage filter and just watch what magical creation you could do.
While much work was poured into the rear camera, I wish the same would have been used for their selfie cam. Sure, the 50MP front-facing camera is large enough to allow more data in, we were hoping that HONOR can optimize the software further so that selfies can look at par with their rear-camera counterparts.
At the very least, extend the Studio Harcourt filter to the front-facing camera as well. Here’s hoping!
If that isn’t enough reason to consider the HONOR Magic7 Pro as your next everyday all-around smartphone camera, the device also comes with nifty AI-Photo enhancing features like AI Eraser, AI Beauty, AI Outpainting, and AI Upscaling all under the AI Edit button.

Remove pesky photobombers or create magical before and afters with the really clean AI Eraser on the HONOR Magic7 Pro.

AI Eraser intelligently erases the book to reveal half of my face.
The AI Outpainting generates images if you feel you cropped your photo too much and want to extend just a little bit more to fit your composition. AI Beauty and AI upscale both smoothens out kinks intelligently without making you look like, well, not you.
There is a bit more optimization needed on some of the photo features of the HONOR Magic7 Pro – like easing a bit on the ultra-wide angle especially when taking photos of people.

Everyday Reliability

Having all this deliciously scrumptious tech at our hands, the HONOR Magic7 Pro is further supported by a large 5850mAh battery with 100W HONOR SuperCharge capabilities and 80W HONOR Wireless SuperCharge easily topping up your phone even if you abuse the HONOR Magic7 Pro with all the daily task, photo-taking, and binge-watching shenanigans.
The phone also has an IP68/69 dust and water resistance rating as well as a nano crystal shield and an SGS 5 Star Drop-Resistance Certification to ensure that your Magic7 Pro can withstand accidental drops and bumps.
But more than these physical attributes, this particular flagship device is brimming with AI support and technology. In our roundtable discussion with HONOR Sr. Director of Product, Mr. Eric Fang, he kept mentioning about HONOR’s revolutionary AI Agent and Deep Fake Detection to be rolled out first to these flagship devices. What makes the HONOR Magic7 Pro great, aside from the obvious things we listed above, is the fact that this device should help ease people into using more AI functions than before.
From photo enhancements like AI SuperZoom, or photo-correcting ones like AI Eraser, HONOR Magic7 Pro has a very robust AI Feature set that should make life more streamlined and productive.
Final Geek Lifestyle Recommendation
