It has been over a year since the last new class, so players will be happy to know that the Druid is joining Diablo Immortal this July.
While the two previous classes – the Blood Knight and Tempest – were all-new additions, the Druid should be a treat for long-time Diablo fans. After all, this class debuted back in Diablo II, and it has also been added to Diablo IV.
Of course, for the Diablo Immortal version, Blizzard promises that the class will have its own identity, all while still feeling familiar to fans who have played as the Druid in the other games.
The Druid is the game’s ninth playable class, and they can channel their energy to shape-shift into beasts and face off against enemies with a hybrid combat style. Specifically, the Druid combines melee, ranged, and pet-based gameplay, along with the ability to shape-shift into beasts.
How it works is that the Druid has a new resource system called Primal Power. This generates passively, and is gained faster when using skills. At any point, the Druid can use Primal Power to transform into various forms. To keep this form, players need to weave in skills to keep their Primal Power up, as these forms drain the power as long as it’s active.
Given the shape-shifting focus, Druids are built for a fast and agile playstyle, though this class should also be quite flexible. After all, the Druid has melee and ranged attacks, along with pet-based gameplay to give players more options in combat encounters.
Some of the forms the Druid can enter include a Werewolf form and a Werebear form. Here are some of the unique skills with each form:
- Werewolf Skill – Claw Attack: Dash forward slightly, damaging and tearing enemies in your path.
- Werebear Skill – Brutal Strike: Grab two targets in front of you and collide them, causing area damage and stun effects.
Meanwhile, here are some of the magic skills the Druid can use in human form:
- Storm of Flames: Conjures a whirlwind of fire lasting for 4s at a specific location, pulling in and inflicting burning damage on nearby enemies.
- Thorn Pillars: Stone pillars wrapped in thorns to protrude from the enemy’s position, causing area damage and knockback effects, and tearing through the enemies hit.
Gameplay aside, the Druid also promises to be a major player in the upcoming story content. In the game’s lore, Druids are reclusive and are dedicated to protect nature’s balance. Because of upcoming story events, the Druids will return to Sanctuary to confront the forces of chaos.
The Druid will be added to Diablo Immortal on July 3, 2025.
