The Bride is coming to cinemas in the Philippines this March

Now this is an interesting take on Bride of Frankenstein.

Warner Bros. Pictures has now confirmed that The Bride is coming to cinemas in the Philippines in early March.

This new film is inspired by the 1935 film, Bride of Frankenstein, though it’s a decidedly new take on that iconic horror classic. Also, it’s worth noting that this is not at all related to Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, nor any other Frankenstein film, for that matter.

To get a better idea of what to expect, you can check out the film’s trailer here:

The Bride is written, directed, and produced by Maggie Gyllenhaal. While she may be more popularly known as an actress who starred in films like The Dark Knight, Gyllenhaal has transitioned into a director. Her directorial debut was the 2021 film “The Lost Daughter,” which received critical acclaim and was nominated for several Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, this film’s star is Golden Globe winner Jessie Buckley as The Bride. She is joined by Academy Award winner Christian Bale as Frankenstein, alongside Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz.

As for its story, the film’s premise is described as:

A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!

The Bride opens in cinemas in the Philippines on March 4, 2026. More details, including its official cinema list, will be shared closer to the film’s release date.
