HONOR unveils the Robot Phone, featuring a camera system combining AI tech with robot-grade motion

HONOR just unveiled an impressive vision for its future AI devices at Mobile World Congress!

At Mobile World Congress 2026, HONOR unveiled the Robot Phone, an impressive device that combines AI tech with a robot-grade gimbal system.

During HONOR’s special MWC event, the brand put the spotlight on its Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI) vision and accelerated ALPHA PLAN, which is centered around AI innovation. Instead of sticking to just software AI implementation, HONOR is also envisioning AI-enhanced hardware, and this can be seen clearly in the Robot Phone, HONOR’s reimagining of what future AI devices would look and function like.

HONOR bills this device as a “new species of smartphone” that combines AI interaction with robot-grade motion. Essentially, it’s a flagship phone with a pro-level gimbal attached to the top. This module means the phone has a larger main camera setup, with a 200MP sensor and a stabilized gimbal system, ensuring stable videos that promise intelligent tracking and cinematic-style camera movement. To ensure smoothness of movement, the phone’s 4DoF gimbal system features a self-developed micro motor. Thanks to this, the module is also built for extreme compactness and strength.

As for its features, the Robot Phone not only has a Super Steady Video mode (that should be even better than today’s flagships), but also AI Object Tracking, allowing it to intelligently follow objects in real time. It also has an AI SpinShot function, supporting 90° and 180° rotational movement that’s fluid, making for cinematic transitions.

The AI capabilities are not limited to photography and videography. The Robot Phone also supports all-angle AI video calling, where the gimbal follows the user courtesy of its robot-grade motion control. IT also features more expressive interaction through motion and camera movement. Essentially, if you have queries, the Robot Phone can respond with expressive nods and headshakes using the gimbal module.

HONOR bills the Robot Phone as the next step in its goal of creating more intelligent and adaptive devices, as part of its ALPHA PLAN. Currently, the phone offers a glimpse at what the future holds for HONOR smartphones. As such, this seems to be more of a concept phone than an actual production model, though we’ll have to wait and see if units will be made and sold. Even if it only ends up as a concept device, this is an exciting reveal, especially as its features will likely make their way to future HONOR flagships.
