Nintendo has another huge hit on its hands as Pokémon Pokopia has now sold over 2.2 million copies on the Switch 2 worldwide.
To be exact, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo confirmed recently that Pokopia has surpassed 2.2 million copies in just four days. Interestingly, almost half of the sales came from Japan, with Nintendo confirming that 1 million units were sold there.
This sales milestone is another feather on the game’s cap, as Pokopia is also one of the best-reviewed games of 2026 so far. Specifically, the game has a Metacritic score of 89, which is currently tied with Resident Evil Requiem at the top of the Metacritic 2026 ranking.

Pokémon Pokopia reaching this big sales record is impressive, especially considering that it’s a spin-off instead of a mainline series entry. While the main Pokémon series titles have big sales numbers, Pokopia shows just how popular the franchise continues to be.
Of course, Pokopia’s gameplay is also a big part of the game’s success. After all, it essentially combines elements from games like Minecraft and Animal Crossing, making it a fun, cozy game for everyone. Plus, it helps that there’s no new Animal Crossing game yet for the Switch 2, so fans of life sims have been drawn to this.
Pokémon Pokopia is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
