HUAWEI AI Glasses boasts integrated camera, durable hinge design

It looks like we're getting a new wearable aside from a flagship smartphone this April!

The new HUAWEI AI Glasses are set to transform the wearable market with its integrated camera and durable design. This groundbreaking addition marks the company’s first eyewear to include a built-in camera, enabling users to capture first-person photos and videos directly from their own perspective.

Set to launch on April 21, 2026, alongside the Pura 90 series, the device aims to move beyond simple audio capabilities to offer a truly practical tool for vlogging and hands-free work. The hardware utilizes an aerospace-grade titanium alloy frame to maintain a lightweight profile of approximately 30 grams for all-day comfort.

The device also focuses on a “durability revolution” centered on its specialized hinge module. Reports indicate that HUAWEI will use advanced Huayan materials for these components, which are being supplied by a subsidiary of Yutong Technology. This custom hinge solution is designed to offer superior structural strength compared to generic designs, building on the precision engineering seen in previous models that used 140 individual components. By utilizing a non-generic, customized design, the company intends to meet the specific needs of modern eyewear users while significantly reducing common wear-and-tear issues.

On the software side, the glasses are powered by HarmonyOS, facilitating seamless cross-device collaboration with phones, tablets, and PCs. Key features include real-time simultaneous translation and the Xiaoyi AI assistant, which manages navigation and contextual tasks. To support these heavy AI demands, the frame houses three lithium batteries, potentially offering 11 hours of continuous use.

Colorways will include Luminous Silver, Titanium Silver Gray, and Modern Black, the product enters a competitive market currently led by Meta. HUAWEI is reportedly preparing an initial shipment of 400,000 to 500,000 units, reflecting strong confidence in the demand for this high-end wearable technology.
