Windrose has sold over 1 million copies less than a week after its Early Access launch

Looks like this new pirate game is living up to the hype!

Kraken Express recently announced that its new pirate adventure game Windrose has sold over 1 million copies in under a week.

The game’s sales record was announced by Kraken Express with a message to fans on Steam. There, the developers confirmed that the game had exceeded one million copies sold in just six days. What’s more, they also revealed that the game has reached 200,000 concurrent players.

To follow, Kraken Express announced that they’re thankful for players who have jumped into teh game, even as they work on various fixes for the game.

Windrose selling over 1 million copies is quite a feat, especially given that it was only launched recently as an Early Access title on Steam. This should be a good indicator that there continues to be plenty of interest among gamers in a pirate-themed game. It likely also helps that, because the game is an Early Access title, it’s priced less than a third of what a new triple-A game costs.

In case you missed it, Windrose is a new PvE survival adventure game set in the Age of Piracy. Here, players take on the role of a pirate who aims to challenge the legendary Blackbeard. As such, the game features plenty of action on the high seas and on treasure islands. Of course, fighting isn’t the only thing to do in this game, as it also has a big survival element, where players must grow their settlement by gathering resources and recruiting NPCs.

Windrose is available right now only on PC, though Kraken Express has indicated that a console release may happen in the future.
