Just a bit under three years after its initial launch, Square Enix announced that it is shutting down Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis.
Details about the impending shutdown were shared on the game’s official website, along with a message that reads:
We regret to inform you that we will be ending service for FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS on Oct. 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT.
We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the abrupt nature of this announcement.
Since the launch of the App Store and Google Play versions on Sep. 7, 2023, and the Steam version on Dec. 6, 2023, we have worked to provide the best possible experience for our players. After careful consideration, however, we have determined that it will be difficult to continue doing so and have made the decision to end service.
Meanwhile, here are the important dates regarding the end of service:
- End of Service Notice
- Jul. 7, 2026, 7:00 PM PDT (July 8 at 10 AM PH Time)
- Red Crystal Sales End
- Jul. 7, 2026, 7:00 PM PDT (July 8 at 10 AM PH Time)
- Note that Red Crystals that players still have can be used until the end of service.
- End of service
- Oct. 6, 2026, 11:00 PM PDT (October 7 at 1 AM PH Time)

Ever Crisis shutting down soon is sad news for fans, especially given how it has only been a bit under three years since the game’s launch (even less time for players who play on Steam). On the flip side, the game did last for a bit longer than Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, which was shut down barely a year after its launch.
Hopefully, Square Enix releases an offline version of the game so players can still experience the game’s content. After all, Square Enix has done single-player versions of its mobile titles such as Octopath Traveller 0 and the upcoming Final Fantasy Resonance. Of course, Ever Crisis is a bit more challenging, given that it’s not exactly a game that you can translate into the HD-2D style as with the previous examples.
