Bandai Namco reveals Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve playable aircraft and customization options

Ace Combat 8's aircraft lineup features lots of familiar fighters!

Following the game’s showcase and release date reveal at State of Play, Bandai Namco shared new details about Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, including confirmed playable aircraft in its roster, along with its range of customization options.

Since the release date was announced, Bandai Namco has begun sharing new info about the upcoming Ace Combat title, including the fact that it will feature enhanced cloud effects along with an option to choose two Special Weapons for a mission.

Now, Bandai Namco has revealed some of the playable aircraft that are part of the game’s roster. These include iconic fighters like the F-14D Super Tomcat and the Su-57 Felon. Yes, even the Warthog is back, which is great as we can’t imagine an Ace Combat game without it.

Here’s a rundown of the confirmed aircraft in the game’s roster:

  • F-14D Super Tomcat (Fighter Jet)
  • A-10C Thunderbolt II (Attack Aircraft)
  • Mirage2000-5 (Multi-role Aircraft)
  • EA-6B Prowler (Electronic Warfare Aircraft)
  • F-35C Lightning II (Multi-role Aircraft)
  • EA-18G Growler (Electronic Warfare Aircraft)
  • F-15C Eagle (Fighter Jet)
  • F-4E Phantom II (Multi-role Aircraft)
  • Su-34 Fullback (Attack Aircraft)
  • Su-25SM Frogfoot (Attack Aircraft)
  • Su-57 Felon (Fighter Jet)
  • MiG-31B Foxhound (Fighter Jet)

Along with the aircraft, new details about the plane customization feature were shared. Completing the Campaign Mode will unlock the ability to customize aircraft with skins and emblems. As you can see in the images below, there are plenty of eye-catching skins to choose from.

If you want to jump right into the multiplayer modes, don’t worry, as the skin and emblem customization features are unlocked from the start in Online Mode.

Finally, Bandai Namco revealed that the game’s PS5 physical edition will come with an exclusive Challenge Coin collectible. This coin features the Ace Combat 8 logo on one side and the Wings of Theve squadron emblem on the other.

Note that this will only be given to players who purchase the game early, as it is only available in limited quantities.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 2, 2026.
