Fresh after adding Arle, SEGA has now added Classic Sonic to the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster in a free update, celebrating Sonic’s 35th anniversary.
While Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the main roster members in CrossWorlds, long-time fans of the iconic SEGA mascot can now race as the classic version of Sonic (which is based on the Classic Sonic of Sonic Generations). This addition also comes with the new Mach Cyclone vehicle.
SEGA also announced that two more iconic characters are coming to CrossWorlds for free. These include Axel from the Crazy Taxi series and Amigo from Samba de Amigo. Axel and Samba will be released in August and September, respectively.
Classic Sonic’s arrival comes alongside the Ver. 1.4.1 update, which features 8 new gadgets, new collab decals, and a variety of classic SEGA music.

Also part of the celebration is the Sonic 35th Anniversary event. This event happens from June 26 to 29, and participants can win special Sonic-themed in-game goodies.
Finally, SEGA announced the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds World Championship 2026. This will be the game’s first-ever global tournament, and there, 24 racers will get a trip to New York to compete for the top spot.
The tournament is happening on October 10, 2026. More details will be shared soon.
