Hideo Kojima’s OD gets first official screenshot, and it looks very much like PT

We're definitely excited to see more!

Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game, OD, recently got what looks to be the first official gameplay screenshot via Entertainment Weekly.

It has been a year since the launch of Death Stranding 2, and over the past year, Kojima has been busy (which you should know if you follow him on social media). Recently, Kojima’s next game, the highly anticipated horror title OD (or OD: Knock), got the spotlight in a report by Entertainment Weekly that focused on Xbox’s upcoming titles.

While the article did not go into detail regarding what to expect gameplay-wise, it did feature some interesting info. For starters, Kojima said that OD will have a “new game system” and that he wants to “go beyond the limit of the ‘scariness’ that other games had reached.” On the flip side, the game will feature a system that will make it accessible to players who get scared easily.

The report also came with a screenshot of OD, which is likely our first look at actual gameplay.

As you can see, this image features a seemingly ordinary house’s interior, though its lighting and colors make it look rather unnerving. Plus, while it’s hard to make out, there seems to be a figure staring at us from inside the room at the end of the hall.

This image looks very much like something from PT, the Playable Teaser for the cancelled Silent Hills project. In case you need a refresher, here’s the OD screenshot compared to an image from Kojima’s PT:

Given how scary PT was, we definitely can’t wait to see what Kojima has in store for his upcoming horror game. Hopefully, it delivers similar scares (if not even more) than PT, all while expanding the scope and gameplay mechanics.

OD is currently in production, but there’s no word yet on a release date.
