Building up more anticipation for one of the biggest superhero movies hitting in the next year, a new photo has been released by Entertainment Weekly to promote Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“… And it’s the VERY FIRST LOOK at “Zombieland” and “The Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg as Superman’s brilliant arch-enemy, Lex Luthor!
In an interview with EW, director Zack Snyder lays down the reason why his interpretation of The Man of Steel’s polar opposite will be unique. “He’s not any of the Lexes you’ve seen, that’s for sure,” says Snyder, “other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course… Our Lex is disarming and its not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”
That’s a very cryptic, general, and mysterious way to describe how Eisenberg’s Luthor will be, but that certainly means it will be different from the likes of Gene Hackman and Michael Rosenbaum, who portrayed the villain in the Superman movies and Smallville respectively. One has to wonder how this Lex will confront Henry Cavill’s Superman in the aftermath of the destruction seen in Man of Steel, as well as interacting with other figures in the film that include’s Ben Affleck’s dual identity as Bruce Wayne and Batman. We’ll find out soon enough in a year’s time!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released on March 25, 2016!
