Sonic Superstars will release on consoles and PC this October

SEGA also revealed the Sonic Superstars Limited Edition which comes with a Sonic figure and more!

Following its reveal back in June, SEGA finally announced that the upcoming Sonic Superstars will release on October 17, 2023, meaning Sonic fans won’t have to wait long before this next intriguing entry into the series.

In case you missed its reveal, Sonic Superstars is the next game in the iconic franchise, and it promises a return to the series’ roots as it will feature the signature Sonic 2D platforming gameplay.

The game’s release date was revealed alongside a new multiplayer trailer which showed off local four-player co-op and the online battle mode footage. Check it out here:

 

As for the game’s story, its premise is described as:

“Sonic Superstars is a brand-new high-speed action game that combines the classic feel of the 2D side-scrolling Sonic series with crisp 3D graphics. A new adventure begins for Sonic and his pals, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles, in the mysterious Northstar Islands, inhabited by gigantic creatures. With your newfound Emerald Powers, stop Dr. Eggman and Fang, who plan to use these creatures for their devious schemes!”

Sonic Superstars Limited Edition Announced

Along with the new trailer, SEGA also announced the “Sonic Superstars Asia Limited Edition” version that promises to be a must-have for the biggest Sonic fans in the region. The contents of this version includes:

  • Sonic Superstars base game(Physical Edition Only)
  • Sonic Superstars Figure :
    • An exclusive 80mm figure of Sonic the Hedgehog alongside the Chaos Emeralds from Sonic Superstars.
  • Sonic Superstars Acrylic Stand:
    • A 150mm x 105mm acrylic stand featuring the key visual of Sonic Superstars.
  • Limited Edition Developer Signed Reproduction Artwork:
    • A 170mm x 210mm reproduction artwork showcasing an illustration of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, personally signed by Takashi Iizuka, the Sonic series’ general producer, and Naoto Ohshima, the character designer of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. The artwork is elegantly encased in a wooden frame.

Sonic Superstars will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 17, 2023. Players on all platforms will get a LEGO Eggman character skin for every digital preorder and physical copy purchase.
