You can view the full list of official Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns on the Capcom website.

For those of you who are new to the franchise, you might be asking: What are Pawns? One of the most unique things that made the first Dragon’s Dogma stand out as an action RPG. As expected, they’re bringing back the system in the sequel. Here’s what you need to know about it in a nutshell:

Pawns are essentially your companions that follow you around and help you in battle. You get them from a place called The Rift. Instead of a traditional coop multiplayer infrastructure where you play with other people, Dragon’s Dogma lets you hire the Pawns that were made by other players.

The Pawns learn from the actions of the player they came from. Whenever they finish a combat encounter or discover something in the world, they’ll mention that they learned something new. This knowledge gets uploaded to the online servers. Let’s say you have a friend who is a couple of hours ahead of you in the game. When you hire his/her Pawn to join you, they’ll be able to tell you of any tips, tricks, or even hidden areas that they discovered already. It’s a very cool system that made the first Dragon’s Dogma such a dynamic and communal experience.

The sequel promises to bring all that back and now with the special twists of Official Pawns to let you play alongside Pawn versions of prominent content creators from around the world.

A few key things to note when hiring Official Pawns:

  • Their name is displayed in a different colour.
  • There is no Rift Crystal cost when hiring Official Pawns up to level 10.
  • Once hired, their equipment cannot be changed.
  • They do not appear in certain features such as daily and overall rankings.
  • Some may have a limited availability period.

Alodia’s Official Pawn will be a Sorcerer, one of the most powerful and useful vocations in the game. March 22 can’t come soon enough. If you’re still wondering why we’re so excited about it, check out our latest final preview for the game.
