Honkai: Nexus Anima is getting its first closed beta test

Registration is open now until September 12!

After its initial teaser back in May, HoYoverse has now revealed that recruitment for the first Honkai: Nexus Anima closed beta has begun.

In case you missed it, Nexus Anima is the next title in the Honkai series, and it will feature different gameplay mechanics for Honkai series standards. After all, what makes this game stand out from other HoYoverse games is that it will feature an auto-battler gameplay system.

Following the teaser, this game was officially announced on August 29, after which, details regarding its upcoming beta test were revealed. Specifically, the Nexus Anima beta test (called the Nexus Bond Test) will be available on PC and iOS soon, with pre-registration available now until September 12. Those interested can pre-register now via the official website.

The Nexus Bond Test will be a closed beta with data wipe, meaning players won’t be able to carry over their progress in the launch version of the game. This makes sense as this is the first big closed beta test for the game. Note that, as a closed beta, only a limited number of players will be selected from those who have pre-registered.

When this game was first revealed, many speculated that Nexus Anima will be HoYoverse’s take on Pokemon, given that the characters in the teaser were joined by unique creatures. Now that it has been officially revealed though, it turns out that it’s a game more in the vein of titles like Teamfight Tactics and Auto Chess.

As for the game’s story, HoYoverse describes it as:

In this world, Nexus is the unseen bonds woven between paired concepts, such as Love and Hate, Light and Dark, Life and Death, among many others. However, this balance is unexpectedly shattered when a sudden rupture severs those connections, scattering their remnant powers across the land in the form of Anima. From this fractured order, players embark on a journey: through missions and combat, they forge bonds with these Anima, unlocking abilities that reflect the unique concepts each embodies. Moreover, these abilities can be combined to create diverse battle tactics and influence how players explore and engage with the expansive overworld.
