The camera system on the new HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra has earned the highest mark to date on DXOMARK – a score of 175!
To be able to achieve this score, HUAWEI was able to perform a historic first from the brand, scoring the highest-ever 180 Photo Score and achieving a record-tying 166 Video Score, along with being hailed as the best-rated telephoto capabilities in DXOMARK’s testing.
Easily, the Pura 80 Ultra was able to surpass all current smartphones in the market by a relatively large margin, and broke a new record for DXOMARK. Prior to the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra, the last smartphone that scored the highest mark only had a top score of 169. That’s a large 6-point margin.
Earning the highest Photo Score of 180 from DXOMARK reflects HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra’s mastery of light and detail. The 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera achieves an industry-leading 16 Exposure Value (EV) dynamic range, the highest on any major smartphones to date. This means that the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra have more settings to gather more light and much more details than its competitors. This also means the phone can trade blows with higher-end cameras in certain scenarios.
Building up on the innovation of the device, HUAWEI sought to redefine long-range photography with the industry’s first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera, which earned DXOMARK’s highest telephoto score. By merging 3.7x medium and 9.4x super-telephoto lenses into a single optical unit, it delivers unmatched versatility.
It’s important to note that DXOMARK tests individual camera features in a controlled and lab-like setting. And while sometimes scores like these may not accurately represent real-world usage and scenarios, we did get some time with both the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra and the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro. Suffice to say, we understand why it had that high a score from DXOMARK.
