Kojima Productions recently announced the new Death Stranding Isolations anime series, and it’s confirmed to release on Disney+ in 2027.
This new anime doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. After all, Hideo Kojima already confirmed that a Death Stranding anime is in the works (via an interview with Vogue Japan). At the time, Kojima didn’t mention any specific details about the project.
Finally, the project was officially revealed, and it’s officially titled Death Stranding Isolations. While there’s no trailer for it yet, the reveal did come with a visual that showed the game’s main characters.

If you think the characters look familiar, that’s likely because this anime will feature character design by Ilya Kuvshinov, the popular artist who is best known for his work on the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners ending sequence, as well as the character designs for Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045.
Along with Kuvshinov, it was revealed that Takayuki Sano will direct the series. Sano is an anime industry veteran who has worked on popular titles like Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, among many others. The show will also be animated by E&H production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet.
As for its story, the new anime’s plot is described as:
Based on the video game born out of the mind of legendary game creator, Hideo Kojima, comes a new animation series headed by Japan’s up-and-coming animation studio E&H production. Helmed by E&H’s Takayuki Sano, it follows in the footsteps of the original in spirit and ideas and depict the world of Death Stranding through a bold and yet subtle touch and top-class hand-drawn animation.
Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges walks through the continent in order to save America, the someones are also trying to deal with their isolation in their own way. An old man trying to realize salvation through ways outside of the connection advocated by Bridges. A female warrior who tries to kickstart a world of constant fighting. A boy with a grudge against Bridges. A girl who embraces loneliness.
On the precipice of the end of humanity and the world, their fates and hopes converge, as another story of Death Stranding begins.
In related news, Kojima Productions unveiled its collaboration with Dnsys for a real-life Death Stranding exoskeleton.
