Netflix reveals Cosmic Princess Kaguya, a new anime film coming in January 2026

Featuring music by notable Vocaloid producers!

Netflix recently announced the upcoming anime movie titled “Cosmic Princess Kaguya,” which is set to launch on January 22, 2026.

This new anime film was revealed with a special trailer, showcasing its colorful, eye-catching visuals, as well as previewing its soundtrack. The trailer also gives us a glimpse at the movie’s main characters, as well as the impressive list of artists that are part of the project. Plus, it teases the film’s story, which will feature a virtual take on The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, one of Japan’s earlierst myths.

Directing this movie is Shingo Yamashita, an animator who is best known for directing the opening of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 and Chainsaw Man. He has also worked on other notable projects like Naruto Shippuden, Soul Eater, Frieren, and many more.

This new movie is Yamashita’s feature directorial debut, and it is being animated by Yamashita’s  Studio Chromato, alongside Studio Colorido (of A Whiskery Away and Star Wars: Visions fame).

As for its music, the movie will feature tracks by several notable Vocaloid producers, including Ryo (of supercell), kz (of livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot.

Finally, the film’s voice cast members include:

  • Yuko Natsuyoshi (Sasha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy) as Kaguya
  • Anna Nagase (Riko Amanai in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Iroha
  • Saori Hayami (Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer) as Yachiyo

Cosmic Princess Kaguya will be released on January 22, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
