It has been three years since the anime was announced, and now, Witch Hat Atelier has got a new trailer, with a release date set for April 2026.
While the anime was announced back in 2022, it was only during Anime Expo 2024 that the debut trailer was unveiled. Finally, a new trailer was shared this week, and it shows off the upcoming anime’s gorgeous visuals, courtesy of studio Bug Films (of Zom 100 fame).
Aside from the show’s eye-catching visuals and animation, the trailer also highlighte the anime’s main cast. Voicing the protagonist Coco is Rena Motomura. Meanwhile, Natsuki Hanae voices Qifrey. Hanae is best known as the voice of Tanjiro in Demon Slayer and Okarun in Dandadan.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Witch Hat Atelier is a popular fantasy manga series that’s serialized in Morning KC. The manga is quite popular, as it has over 7 million copies in circulation. It has also gotten a lot of praise from readers, with some considering it as part of the recent “big three” fantasy manga alongside Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Delicious in Dungeon. As such, the upcoming adaptation has a lot of hype behind it.
The series’ story is described as:
“In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch … until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem …”
Witch Hat Atelier is set to be released in April 2026, and it will be streamed on Crunchyroll. Currently, there’s no word on a release date yet.
