Marvel’s Wolverine gets September release date on PS5

The game's release date was suddenly revealed on social media.

While it did not get the spotlight much at the recent State of Play, Insomniac Games has now revealed the release date of Marvel’s Wolverine for PS5.

The game’s release date was shared on the official PlayStation and Insomniac Games social media pages. This comes as a bit of a surprise, especially considering that most big PlayStation Studios games like these get release date reveals at State of Play showcases. Given that there was a State of Play earlier this month, it makes one wonder why PlayStation didn’t share a new Wolverine trailer then.

In any case, Wolverine’s release date is great news for PS5 players, especially given that it has been nearly three years since Insomniac Games released Spider-Man 2.

The game’s September release date makes sense, as releasing the game any later means it will face stiff competition from Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled to release on November 19. It’s a smart strategy for any publisher to steer clear of the November 2026 window for their game launches, given how much GTA VI is expected to dominate the charts when it gets released. Of course, there’s a chance that there may be another delay, but considering it has already been delayed twice, there’s a good chance it won’t get any more delays.

Marvel’s Wolverine will release exclusively on PS5 on September 15, 2026.
