With Valentine’s Day 2026 just days away, here are seven romance anime that you should add to your watch list on Crunchyroll!
While there are plenty of great romance anime to see, this selection features five new shows from Winter 2026 that should be great weekly viewing (at least, once you’ve caught up to the latest episodes). What’s more, each show is a different take on the romance genre; while some are high school romance shows, they each have their own twists. Plus, for those who want something to binge, the last two shows here have complete seasons that you can watch.
So, if you want to feel the romance for Valentine’s Day, here are our seven recommendations:
Hana-Kimi

First up is Hana-Kimi, the iconic shojo romance manga that has finally gotten a proper anime adaptation. It’s fair to say that Hana-Kimi is one of the most popular shojo manga of the late 90s to early 2000s, enough that it has gotten live-action adaptations in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
The show has a familiar premise for shojo fans, as it follows Mizuki Ashiya, a girl who pretends to be a guy and enters an all-boys school to get close to the high jumper, Izumi Sano. As such, if you’re a fan of shows like High School Host Club, this should be right up your alley.
You and I Are Polar Opposites

Next, we have You and I Are Polar Opposites. If you ask us, this romance series is already one of our top 3 shows of Winter 2026. While it may seem like your typical high school rom-com, it’s unique in that the main couple’s progression is much faster than your average romance anime.
Aside from the fact that the main duo gets a confession early, this show is also an incredibly fun watch as its main cast is a loveable bunch. It also helps that the show’s animation is quite creative, making it one of the best shows of the season if you want a feel-good watch.
In the Clear Moonlit Dusk

Another high school romance anime is In the Clear Moonlit Dusk. What makes this interesting is that it follows a “handsome” and boyish girl who develops a budding romance with an equally handsome guy.
This makes it quite a different romance anime, especially given that most female protagonists in rom-com shows are either cutesy or decidedly feminine.
The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom

For fans of otome games (or anime with otome-inspired stories), The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom is a Winter 2026 highlight.
This show follows a Japanese woman who is reincarnated as Tiararose Lapis Clementille, a villainess in an otome game. As she’s about to be exiled, she is saved by a prince from a neighboring kingdom named Aquasteed Marineforest.
So, if you’re someone who loves shows like 7th Time Loop, or if you often go to r/OtomeIsekai on Reddit, this show is something to add to your list.
There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her

Now, if you’re an isekai fan who wants a show with a romantic twist, There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her is a show to see.
The show’s protagonist, Youki, is reincarnated as a mid-tier demon, but he soon falls for the hero’s party priestess named Cecilia. Even though his goal is to crush the heroes, Youki aims to confess his feelings, even if he has to betray the Demon King in the process.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War

If you’re a fan of rom-com anime, chances are that you’ve seen Kaguya-sama: Love is War. If not, then you’re in for a treat as this is easily one of the best romance anime that we’ve seen.
Not only is this show incredibly funny, but Love is War also features perhaps the best progression when it comes to the main duo’s romance (as there’s an actual sense of progression throughout the series). As it unfolds through three seasons (and various specials), you’ll definitely feel the desire to cheer the main couple on.
Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii

Now for something completely different, there’s Yakuza Fiancé. Unlike shows such as Love is War and You and I Are Polar Opposites, which are feel-good shows, Yakuza Fiancé is anything but. Sure, it’s quite funny, but it’s also very much a toxic romance series.
There are many romance anime with delinquent protagonists, but Yakuza Fiancé goes above and beyond that, as its main guys are morally reprehensible, but in the best way possible, at least when it comes to sheer entertainment value. So, if you want a romance series that’s messy and violent, this is definitely the show to watch.
All seven shows are streaming now on Crunchyroll.
