Tokyo Game Show 2026 is bringing back the SELECTED INDIE 80 initiative

This campaign selects promising indie developers, and gives them free exhibition support at TGS 2026.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association recently announced that the SELECTED INDIE 80 project will be back for Tokyo Game Show 2026.

For those unfamiliar, SELECTED INDIE 80 is a project that debuted in 2024, and it’s an initiative by TGS that puts the spotlight on indie titles. While Tokyo Game Show has long featured indie games, this project selects indie games from studios across the world and gives them the opportunity to showcase their titles at no cost. Specifically, selected indie teams are given a space at the event for free.

This year’s SELECTED INDIE 80 is accepting entries until April 30 at 17:00 JST. Applications can be submitted via the official website. As a bonus, along with a free exhibition opportunity, selected titles will also be automatically entered into the game idea presentation contest “Sense of Wonder Night.”

TGS 2026’s project is supported by the following sponsors:

  • <Platinum Sponsors> Nintendo, KODANSHA
  • <Gold Sponsor> PLAYISM
  • <Silver Sponsor> iGi indie Game incubator
  • <Bronze Sponsors> CRI Middleware, Amakusa City
  • <Equipment Sponsors> ASK, auryn, Wit One

Tokyo Game Show is also introducing the “SI80 Excellence Awards” for this year’s event. This new award will honor 10 titles selected from those participating in the SELECTED INDIE 80 project. Winning titles will be announced in August, with the award ceremony happening at the show this September.

TGS 2026 is happening from September 19 to 23 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
