Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth gameplay trailer confirms return of Kaoru Sayama
Kaoru Sayama and other fan-favorites will return as a Poundmates ally.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth got a gameplay trailer at RGG Summit Fall 2023, and it confirmed the return of Kaoru Sayama, Shun Akiyama, and other fan-favorites from the series.
To start the stream, RGG Studio shared a meaty story trailer for the game. Soon after, Infinite Wealth also got a gameplay trailer that showed off various gameplay features and additions. While the game will feature similar core gameplay mechanics as Yakuza: Like a Dragon (or Yakuza 7), this sequel adds a lot of new jobs, as well as a dizzying array of minigames.

Perhaps the biggest reveal for fans is that several fan-favorites will return in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, including Kiryu’s one-time love interest Kaoru Sayama. Also appearing are iconic characters such as Shun Akiyama and Makoto Date.
Though take note, they won’t play big roles in the game’s story (as confirmed previously by RGG Studio). Instead, their appearances will be more like cameos as they will only show up when called as part of the game’s Poundmates system. In case you’re unfamiliar or need a refresher, Poundmates are special allies that Ichiban can call in the middle of battle.
While fans will not see a reunion between Kiryu and Kaoru, they can at least look forward to lots of exciting minigames and all sorts of activities, especially in Hawaii. That’s because the game’s Honolulu map will be even bigger than the Yokohama map, as confirmed during the stage panel discussion during the stream.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on January 26, 2024,
Both Infinite Wealth and the spinoff Like a Dragon Gaiden will be showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2023 at the SEGA booth. Tokyo Game Show will happen from September 21 to 24, 2023, with the 22nd and 23rd days being open to the public.
