Following its reveal way back in 2022, Netflix announced more cast members in the City Hunter live-action film ahead of its April release.

City Hunter is one of the most iconic anime and manga of the 80s, and it has also recently gotten a new anime film. Soon, it’s going to be the next to get a Netflix live-action treatment in the form of a new movie. This follows Netflix’s One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho live-action projects.

The movie will be more similar to the Yu Yu Hakusho live-action show though as it’s a Japanese production. Previously, it was confirmed that the film will star Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba and Misato Morita as Kaori Makimura.

Now, Netflix revealed that popular Japanese actor Masanobu Ando has joined the cast, and he will play Hideyuki Makimura, Kaori Makimura’s older brother and Ryo’s close friend and “sweeper” partner.

Regarding his casting, Ando said, “I felt immense pressure to do justice to the character, considering its popularity in the original manga and animation. I hope both existing fans of City Hunter and newcomers alike will enjoy the film.”

Also part of the cast is Fumino Kimura who plays Saeko Nogami, a detective from the Metropolitan Police Department who has a mysterious relationship with the protagonist Ryo.

As for his role in the film, Kimura said, “The role of Saeko was a daunting offer, and I couldn’t imagine myself playing it,” Kimura admitted. “However, having the support and guidance of Ryohei Suzuki, our leading man and a fan of the original work, was incredibly reassuring. I’m confident that both longtime fans and new audiences are in for a treat with this film.”

The live-action City Hunter movie is coming to Netflix worldwide on April 25, 2024.
