Aniplex recently announced that an anime adaptation of the hit visual novel Needy Girl Overdose is in the works, and it will premiere in April next year.
This new anime was revealed with a trailer that shows off its main character, as well as teases the show’s visual style. You can check out the trailer here:
The trailer also revealed that the anime is being made by Yostar Pictures, the studio behind popular titles like the Arknights and Blue Archive anime adaptations.
While the voice cast hasn’t been revealed yet, it was announced that Masaoki Nakajima (of Blue Archive The Animation and Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! fame) will be the show’s director.
Alongside the trailer, the anime’s key visual was also revealed:

Also known as Needy Streamer Overload, this visual novel became popular back in 2022, especially among streamers and VTubers. That’s because its story is quite relevant to the world of streaming, albeit very much a satirical take on it. The game puts players in the role of a manager of a female livestreamer named Ame, and the player’s goal is to help her reach 1 million subscribers in one month. While it may seem like a fun game, it gets quite dark, enough that it often gets compared to visual novels like Doki Doki Literature Club.
The game’s premise is described as:
NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD is a “multi-ending ADV” depicting daily life with “OMGkawaiiAngel”, a young girl with a rather extreme need for approval attempting to become the #1 “Internet Angel” (streamer). Gradually build up OMGkawaiiAngel’s number of followers as she spends her days streaming, using various ”stress relievers”, and generally being kinda messed up. Experience all the different crazy ups and downs and find out for yourself whether this story is even capable of having a happy ending.
The Needy Girl Overdose anime will premiere in April 2026. For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date, though more details will be shared soon.
