The 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards is official, and it’s taking place in Tokyo this May. Much like previous ceremonies by Crunchyroll, this year’s ceremony will also feature an impressive music lineup.
While the complete lineup hasn’t been revealed yet, Crunchyroll confirmed that popular voice actress and performer Sally Amaki and renowned entertainer Jon Kabira will return as the co-hosts. Amaki and Kabira will host the event for the fourth straight year.
Perhaps the biggest reveal so far is the fact that Japanese singer Yoko Takahashi will perform a 30th anniversary tribute for Neon Genesis Evangelion. For those unfamiliar, Takahashi is the singer of the iconic Evangelion theme song, “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis.”
Along with Takahashi, symphonic suites conducted by Hirofumi Kurita, performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, are other key musical highlights. More details about the other musical performances will be shared in the lead-up to the ceremony.
As for the event itself, the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards will begin with a global pre-show (hosted by Lauren Moore and Tim Lyu), followed by the orange carpet, and the presentation of the awards in thirty-two categories.
The nominees will be revealed on April 2, 2026, after which, global fan voting will begin. These nominees will be selected from eligible titles that premiered between January 1 and December 31 in 2025.
